An iterative algorithm that is used for linkage mapping. It iteratively calculates the likelihood across markers on a chromosome, rather than across families, as in the ElstonStewart algorithm. This allows efficient calculation of pedigree likelihoods for small families with many linked markers. (Beaumont 2004)
