Genome-wide association studies (GWAS)

Genome-wide association studies (GWAS)search for term

alleles at genotypic markers in a large population of unrelated individuals are tested for significant association with a quantitative phenotype of interest. (Hamblin 2011). Studies that search for a population association between a phenotype and a particular allele by screening loci (most commonly by genotyping SNPs) across the entire genome. (Bamshad 2011)
