- Gene spacesearch for term
Long, gene-rich regions that contain the vast majority of genes, interrupted by long, gene-poor regions in a genome of a given species. Presence of gene space is a common feature of plants, including cereal species with large genome size owing to the abundance of repetitive DNA (retro and/or transposons) in their genome.
